Volkswagen has put an expiry date on future development of its combustion engines. The German car maker says the next generation of its petrol engines will also be its last when they launch in 2026. According to a report from Reuters, VW says it will continue to adapt its petrol and diesel engined cars to meet environmental standards during the lifetime of those vehicles, but is now committed to radical steps to stop global warming. The hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) has been dabbled with for years. But finally in 2019 at least one Australian service station will sell the amazingly clean fuel to power a production zero-emissions SUV and kick off what until now has seemed too good to be true. On Saturday, June 23, the Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum will be hosting an event (8 AM – 11 AM) that pays tribute to the golden age of the automobile. NSW Police has locked in BMW and Chrysler sedans to replace Holden and Ford machines on the state highway patrol fleet. BMW will supply special 530d sedans in what the brand describes as a “specific authority specification” stripped of some luxuries. The sedans are equipped with special equipment including M Sport brakes and suspension, as well as comfort seats.
