Volkswagen has put an expiry date on future development of its combustion engines.
The German car maker says the next generation of its petrol engines will also be its last when they launch in 2026.
According to a report from Reuters, VW says it will continue to adapt its petrol and diesel engined cars to meet environmental standards during the lifetime of those vehicles, but is now committed to radical steps to stop global warming.
